For fun I have decided to make two half dollar sized coin shooters. Below I will post progress pictures as construction moves along. You will notice some changes I will be making from the examples shown at the bottom of this page. Construction will be a little slow as I will be squeezing this project in between others as machines become available. You will need to check back now and then to see the current state of progress.

The metal to be cut is laid out on the shear...

and cut to length.

The pieces are marked for bending.

The first bend.

The second bend.

Shown here are the bodies of the two coin shooters

next to a stack of four half dollar coins.

To keep weight down, an aluminum alloy was used for the body.

This is how the coins fit in the shooter.

More to come as I find time...

Shown below are three variations of the coin shooter apparatus.

Sold on Kenna Thompson Auction

Problems with this model:

1) thickness of the gimmick
2) lack of sleeve guard covering
3) difficulty in loading coins

Mystery maker coin shooter with Higgins pull

Problems with this model:

1) thickness of the gimmick
2) lack of sleeve guard covering
3) difficulty in loading coins

Possible Martin or Hammerton model (note sleeve guard)

This is by far the best of the lot. The type of strap helps to date this model. Sleeve cover finish could be either maker.

Problems with this model:

1) thickness of the gimmick
2) difficulty in loading coins

Does anyone own a different model that I could add or have any info on these three? Thanks. My email link is at the top of this page.
